11 hr
160 British pounds
Littlehampton RNLI to The Bull pub and return with tide

Service Description

Would you like a real physical challenge to help improve your skills? On this tour we use the tides to take a trip up the River Adur. Please note this a very long day and the level of difficulty is rated as advanced. The paddling is not hard itself but you need a good level of stamina to paddle for +10 hours. It involves crossing a small weir and some tight bends through river trees. It is essential you have paddleboarding/kayaking experience to try this adventure. Our adventure up the River Adur starts near the shore, at the mouth of the estuary at Shoreham RNLI. We meet up at the car park there and go through the setup followed by a short safety session. We enter the water from the beach or slipway and paddle up river with the tide. At first the river is very wide and before you know it your through the built up area of Shoreham for the first hour or so past all the boatyards, Brighton City Airport and underpass. As we start leaving the town there are excellent views of Lancing College Chapel. The flow of the Adur takes us up toward and through the picturesque village of Steyning with Bramber Castle to our left. After paddling for some time through the lowland fields surrounding Henfield we reach The Fork where we take a right hand turn. This section is narrow and tricky in places but very scenic and the most beautiful part. There is a small weir to navigate over at one point. Further up from here we find the secret bank to exit and go to our halfway destination The Bull Inn for a very well earned lunch and possibly a jar or two. Then, after a short wait for the tide to change, we turn back downstream and paddle all the way back home. This one is a real adventure that you'll be proud to complete!
